Douglas W. Morrison, in his book How we Heal: Understanding the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection, discusses the relationship between sunlight energy and essential fatty acids in the body.  These natural oils act as a resonance system for solar energy, storing and transporting through the human body.

Sunlight and Essential Fatty Acid

Exposure to natural sunlight is required for optimal health, but exposure to lighting with a spectrum dissimilar to that of natural sunlight can have a negative impact upon our health. Therefore, we should enjoy moderate exposure to natural sunlight on a daily basis and use full spectrum lighting in place of conventional lighting wherever possible.

Many people are concerned and confused about the advisability of exposing the skin to the sun to any great extent. Certainly burning the skin in the sun is not a good health practice. According to Dr. Johanna Budwig, pioneer in the study of essential fatty acids, the detrimental effects of the sun upon many people today is largely attributed to the lack of rich essential fatty acids in the diet and the abundance of toxic altered fat substances. She notes that “the electrons of highly unsaturated fats of seed-oils, being on the same wavelength as sunlight, are able to attract solar energy, to store it, and according to need, to release it as pure energy, making it available for life functions.”

Due to the proximity of their double bonds the essential fatty acids have the ability to generate a cloud of electrons on the same wavelength as the sun’s rays. When we consume an abundance of essential fatty acids we are able to benefit greatly from the sun’s rays. Dr. Budwig elaborates upon the interplay between the essential fatty acids, electrons, the sun, and photons. “We can store solar energy, and living tissue is capable of withdrawing energy from this reservoir of electrons, according to need. When this reservoir is empty, the person becomes irritable, tired and the limbs become heavy. But we can replenish these reservoirs again by ingesting electron-rich seed oils. These are tuned to the reception of solar energy.”

All life as we know it is dependent upon the sun’s rays because each member of the food chain is dependent, at least indirectly, upon the process of photosynthesis. For it is through this process that plants convert the sun’s rays into nutrients we may all utilize. Yet in addition to our indirect dependence via the plant kingdom, we may also be dependent upon the sun more directly. Dr. Budwig explains the mechanisms whereby we may receive and store this solar energy.

“The electrons from our foods act as a resonance system for solar energy. Electrons derived from foods are real nutrients. They attract the photons of sunlight with their electromagnetic field. These photons – active, energetic, in constant motion, without which even the physicists say there would be no life – these photons which are on the same wavelength as the electrons of seed oils, that are in resonance with solar energy, operate as the life element. This interaction between the solar energy of photons and the electrons in seed oils governs all life functions.”

Udo Erasmus also discusses the ability of the essential fatty acids to store sunlight and pass it onto us. As we move further from the equator to areas with less and less sunlight, the amount of these highly unsaturated fatty acids and their various derivatives will increase in plants and animals found in that area. And as we move towards the equator and to greater amounts of sunlight, the amount of these fatty acids will decrease in the plants and animals found in these regions. The same type of plant will typically have a greater amount of these fatty acids when grown further from the equator. Thus, nature seems to naturally provide more of these fatty acids wherever there is less sun. This would certainly offer some indirect corroboration of Budwig’s theories on the matter.

Book Description

Unlike health books that cover only nutrition and lifestyle factors, or books that deal with consciousness, spirituality, personal growth, and metaphysical considerations outside the realm of the physical,How We Healaddresses healing in the broadest conceivable context. It presents this whole range of topics in a coherent, comprehensive manner that introduces the novice reader to Body Electronics, iridology, sclerology, and other alternative health modalities. Author Douglas Morrison explores the physical factors — sleep, water, exercise, and detrimental influences such as amalgam dental fillings, root canals, fluoride, electromagnetic fields, vaccinations, drugs — that influence health and explains why it’s necessary to integrate them with the hidden patterns of thought, word, and emotion that make healing possible. Through the use of analogies and practical examples, the book helps readers embrace this new way of seeing their own reality. Diagrams and illustrations throughout help further illuminate these potentially life-changing concepts.
