Gene study supports link between vitamin D deficiency and disease

A new study led by Oxford University in England has mapped the points at which vitamin D interacts with our DNA – and identified over 200 genes directly influenced by vitamin D. It is estimated that 1 billion people worldwide do not have sufficient vitamin D. This deficiency is thought to be largely due to insufficient exposure to the sun and in some cases to poor diet.

New research at the University of Kansas School of Medicine shows that eye health is directly related to overall health, occurrence of disease and aging.
