Suryayog Sun Talks
Suryayog is the yoga of the Sun. It is an ancient yogic technique that has recently re-surfaced in India. Suryayog involves just 3 steps: Sungazing, Meditation and Circle of Light, and can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age or faith.
This article reminds us of the importance of the Sun in our lives. If there is a wonder drug or cure-all it would be the Sun.
Sun Talks
Who likes the SUN? Yes, we all enjoy the Sun . . . but we do not know how to make full use of the sun – it’s energies, its healing powers?
The SUN is the greatest visible Power of this Universe
We can’t imagine a life without the Sun.
It provides everything to us
- Light, Heat, Energy, Food, Oxygen, Seasons
- It marks time, motivates all of us to get up and work
- Regulates our body clock and the Entire Universe, all the planets – all life
It also can provide us with GOOD Physical health, Mental health and Spiritual Awareness
How? . . . . There is a simple technique which draws the healing powers from the sun through our eyes into our body, activating all the glands and the subltle energy centres in the body (called Chakras). It is called SURYAYOG – “Union with the Sun”.
We all enjoy the sunrise and sunsets – it is not just the enjoyment of seeing the beautiful colors with our eyes. It is more than that! The subtle energies from the sun enters our eyes and stimulates the secretion of ‘BETA-ENDORPHINS’ the feel good hormones in our system making us calm, peaceful, happy. Do you not experience this when you see the sunrise or sunset?
If we consciously continue to gaze at the sun at sunrise or sunset, increasing our time looking at the sun, we can derive many additional benefits. The sun can cure many of our physical diseases like:
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Joint pain
- Ashma
- Spondilitis
- Stomach problems
- Cancers
- PMS difficulties
- And even eye problems
That’s on the physical level …..
There are additional benefits on the mental area:
- Increased concentration
- Enhanced memory power
- Increased self-confidence
- Increased will power
- A decrease in depression
- Less anxiety
- Decreased phobias (fears)
- Decrease in emotional problems
Then there are benefits on the spiritual realm:
- Increase awareness
- Deeper level for those doing meditation
- Increased gratitude
- Humility and the removal of ego
- Numerous spiritual experiences of inner consciousness.
If there is a ‘WONDER DRUG” a “CURE-ALL” it would be the Sun.
These benefits have not just been found recently. Sun gazing is as ancient as our civilization! The ancient Indians, American Indians, South American Incas, Aztecs and Mayas, Babylonians, Iranians and Egyptians all practiced some form of sun gazing for physical, mental and spiritual health benefits.
This practice is found in most all religious traditions including, Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Egyptian, Buddhist, Zoroastrianism, Jainism and various Indian religions.
Most all cultures and traditions have respected if not worshipped the Sun for all its benefits to mankind.
Have you thought about why you like the sun? What benefits do you derive from the Sun?
When you think about it, the sun provides everything! Life itself! Yet, how often do we think about the glories and wonders of the sun? How often do we think for a moment in gratitude for all the sun has given us selflessly each and everyday? Hardly ever!
But now with this awareness, we now know, we have some better idea of the glories and wonders of the sun. This thought process develops GRATITUDE in us. Which leads to HUMILITY and reverence. When we respect someone, our love starts flowing. LOVE is the key to life – LOVE is the purpose of life. All religions talk about the importance of LOVE. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IS GOD.
The purpose of Suryayog is to teach people not only the physical benefits of looking at the sun, but it helps us to increase our understanding, dependence and love towards the SUN and Mother Nature.
We have moved so far from Mother Nature these days we are forgetting her and even abusing her with all our pollution of water, air, and earth. She gives us so much each and everyday, we can never repay her for all she gives. Yet we forget this and because of our selfishness and greed destroy her by senselessly cutting down trees, rob her of her natural minerals and oil creating enormous holes and empty pits in the centre of the earth. There seems to be no end to the ways and means that man abuses her for his money and selfish interests.
People often forget about the Law of Cause and Effect. In India it is called the Law of Karma. If you do bad, you seed a bad plant which when matured causes problems. We see this. Mother Nature cannot sit quiet with all this abuse. We experience this through
- Earthquakes
- Tidal Waves
- Tsunami’s
- Hurricanes
- Storms
- Floods
- Heat waves
- Tornadoes
There are so many natural catastrophes these days, so many more than previous generations. Why? Because of the maturing of all our bad karmas. We are to blame.
The time has come for individuals, that means you and me to become aware of all the love and benefits from the Sun and Mother Nature and to join together to PROTECT HER and insure our survival. That is what Suryayog is about. Awareness and reaping the benefits.
- Plant trees
- Don’t litter – clean up litter
- Don’t pollute the air, water or the environment
Live with an awareness, an obligation, a moral responsibility to protect Mother Nature. Develop this social consciousness and practice being a steward or guardian of Mother.
The actual practice of Suryayog is very simple, anyone at any age can learn it very easily. And it is a Universal practice which any person from any country, religious belief or caste can learn and enjoy.
It involves just 3 steps: Sungazing, Meditation and Circle of Light. The beauty of this practice is unique to each person as you establish a personal direct link with the Powerful, Loving Light Energy of the Sun. In that link between you and Him, wonderful things will happen to you, in you, through you.
Do Suryayog daily at sunrise or sunset and reap the physical, mental, spiritual and social benefits by gazing lovingly at the Sun.

on September 16th, 2009I was just reading Omraam’s thought for today before I read this Sun Talk. He said the same thing about natural catastrophies. He said, “”You are free, yes… you are free as long as you do not transgress the laws of nature. For nature is implacable and inflexible: you can cry, shout and threaten, it will not change its laws for you,
and if you transgress them you will suffer. It’s up to you to accept these laws, to be in accordance with nature. You will say that nature is cruel… No, it wants to see its sons and daughters well and happy. But if they are stupid, then it’s nature’s task to make them more mature, and for that it needs to give them a few shocks from time to time. And if they refuse to understand quickly, these shocks can be terrible.
Nature has no wish to destroy humans, no, it has worked too hard to give them life and sustain the life in them to then decide to massacre them. But it wishes to educate them. That’s why, as long as humans behave like disrespectful, undisciplined,
disobedient children, they will receive lessons.”
